Canasta Score Keeper
Enter each side's canastas, red 3s, whether they went out, and their card points. The score keeper adds the bonuses, shows each side's minimum first meld for the next hand, and plays to 5,000. The built-in counter adds up card points for you, which is where most scoring mistakes happen.

How it scores canasta
- Canastas: 500 for each natural canasta (no wild cards) and 300 for each mixed canasta.
- Red 3s: 100 each, or 800 for all four. If a side hasn't melded at all, its red 3s count against it instead.
- Going out: 100, or 200 if you go out concealed, without having melded before.
- Card points: add the value of every card the side has melded, then take off the value of cards left in its players' hands. Jokers are 50, aces and 2s 20, kings to 8s 10, and 7s to 4s and black 3s 5.
- Minimum first meld: 15 for a side below zero, 50 from 0, 90 from 1,500 and 120 from 3,000. The score keeper shows it before each hand.
Example hand
A side that went out: 1,610
One natural canasta (500), two mixed (600), one red 3 (100) and going out (100) make 1,300 in bonuses. Add 310 for the melded cards: 1,610.
Counting a meld: 165
A joker (50), a 2 (20), two aces (40), four cards from king to 8 (40) and three from 7 to 4 (15) add up to 165.
